Working in times of pandemic, a new reality landscape

Ah, the pandemic, that moment that changed the social organization forever.

We thought that this episode would only last a few weeks and that everything would return to the way it was before. Again, two years later, adjusting, adapting, and modifying all human and social activities, including employment.

In addition to health, sports, and educational activities, the structure of work has changed enormously quickly; we have seen with our own eyes the arrival of telework. As we know, many companies have opted for this new way of working to be financially productive while respecting the health of the workers and the sanitary measures imposed by the various governments.

Zoom and Teams enter the arena

We’ve all seen them, the videos of workers in their pajama pants during their video conference, the cat wandering around on the computer, the cries of children playing in the background, the filters that can be used to hide the imperfections of the house or oneself, the workers asleep in front of their screens or simply the black screens.

What a change!

Telecommuting changes the game since we need a space that is conducive to productivity, a good internet connection, a computer that is new and powerful enough to accomplish our tasks, and most importantly, a lot of trust in our employees since we can’t monitor them to make sure they are performing their functions as we would like.

This change is also complex for employees often ask, “what is acceptable to telework?” “How should I dress when I’m in the comfort of my home?” or “what time should I log in for my meeting? The simplest things can become quite complicated.
